Relentlessly driven by the potential of what our industry can achieve, here at Lyme Bay we strive to make the best wine, from the best grapes, from the best growers. Central to this is our love of all things coastal and West Country. Our grapes are selected and our wines crafted to reflect a natural affinity to the region’s renowned fish dishes and coastal vistas, both in style and character. The result; a range of still and sparkling English Wines that have captured the imagination of many and achieved incredible international award success.

  • Winemaking Notes

The 2017 growing season was exceptionally early, with record temperatures for bud break. This led to optimism for another early harvest & decent crop, however, a late spring frost hit the country late April, which saw many vineyards lose their most productive buds. The south of England was hit the worst, and we were lucky to escape most of the damage. The remainder of the season though was very kind & we harvested up to 3 weeks earlier in comparison to 2015 & 2016. Ripeness levels were good & exceptional in some vineyards. The Shoreline is a blend of Bacchus, Pinot Blanc & Seyval Blanc, with each of the parcels fermented separately with different yeast strains & temperatures to make several complex layers of flavours and aromas. Upon completion, the different vats were assessed for potential and characteristics, then blended together in the optimum proportions. The resulting Shoreline blend was aged for four months on fine lees to improve structure & mouth-feel, before being bottled at the end of February 2018 to preserve its freshness. (PGI)
