2017: a year of ups and downs, like any other. We started with Donald Trump’s inauguration as 45th President of the United States in January – yes, we know it feels like he’s been doing what he’s doing for much longer than that – and ended on a much jollier note with the announcement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement.

String of successes

But it’s not just Republicans and Royalists who’ve had reasons to be cheerful this year. We’ve had plenty of cause to celebrate here at Lyme Bay Winery in 2017, raising a glass (of our English Sparkling Wine, naturally) to a string of successes over the past 12 months:

- Our award-winning products have continued to impress experts and judges across the globe, bringing home over 50 medals in national and international competitions.

- We achieved BRC Global Standard (Issue 7) with a Grade A rating – a big deal in our world as this certification guarantees a standardised level of quality and safety to consumers around the world.

- Our forays into new product development continued apace with the release of Yore, our sparkling Mead; and two new English wines, a beautiful Sparkling Rosé and a Blanc de Noirs; as well as a re-design for our Liqueurs and Jack Ratt cider (the latter winning the coveted International Cider Challenge Design Award).

- And, to the delight of food-and-wine aficionados, we launched a collaboration with local artisan cheese producer Quicke's Cheese to hand-select some of the South West’s finest cheeses for after-dinner pairing and sharing suggestions.

2018 looks to be a very exciting year with us not just venturing into new product development but entirely new categories, so watch this space for more news. In the meantime, we’d like to with all our customers a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
