    Gin Cocktails for Mother’s Day

    Gin has undisputedly become the tipple of choice for discerning drinkers and cocktail clinkers alike, and with so many bespoke botanical flavours to choose from, even the simplest G&T can be a taste sensation.

    If you’re looking to treat your mum with something a little different this Mother’s Day, our beautiful Lyme Bay Gins come in a range of flavour combinations to tempt the tastebuds of even the most judicious ginthusiasts.

    For a new twist on some classic gin mixes, here are our ideas for creative cocktail connoisseurs.

    Classic Negroni with Lyme Bay Dry Gin

    Our beautifully fresh and invigorating Lyme Bay Dry Gin is a steady award-winner, taking home Silver at the 2018 Taste of the West Awards, and Gold in the Food Drink Devon Awards in the same year.

    Bursting with traditional botanical flavours of juniper, floral and citrus notes alongside intoxicating aromas of verbena and the freshness of orange peel, lemon and lime, it pairs perfectly with Mediterranean tonic water and a slice of lemon or twist of orange and makes a classy, classic Negroni.

    The Italians insist you need to drink three Negronis before you really get going, but to make one you’ll need:

    25ml Lyme Bay Dry Gin

    25ml sweet vermouth

    25ml Campari

    Orange zest

    Pour everything into your favourite glass over ice, stir, add the orange zest, and pretend you are lunching with the Clooneys at their lakeside mansion.

    Elderflower Collins with Lyme Bay Elderflower & Cucumber Gin

    The fragrant and intoxicating aromas of elderflower coupled with the fresh scent of cucumber make our Elderflower & Cucumber Gin an incredibly juicy and intoxicating drink, so it’s no surprise that it won Gold at the 2019 Food Drink Devon Awards.

    Juniper and other traditional gin botanicals come together to create a serious drink with a crispness and sweet floral bouquet making for a perfect Elderflower Collins. For this, you’ll need:

    50ml Lyme Bay Elderflower & Cucumber Gin

    20ml lemon juice

    10ml sugar syrup

    Soda

    Shake the gin with the lemon and sugar. Pour over ice and add soda to taste. If you’re feeling truly decadent, then top with sparkling wine to make an effervescent Elderflower Royale.

    French 75 with Lyme Bay Orange & Thyme Gin

    Another Gold medal winner for us at the 2019 Food Drink Devon Awards, our delicious Orange & Thyme Gin cleverly melds the bittersweet citrus flavours of blood orange with the gentle peppermint notes of thyme for a spectacular take on a classic combination.

    For a champagne cocktail with a twist, it makes an interesting gin component for a French 75 – the pre-war classic created in 1915 at the New York Bar in Paris by barman Harry MacElhone. To follow in Harry’s French footsteps, you’ll need:

    20ml Lyme Bay Orange & Thyme Gin

    10ml lemon

    5ml sugar, if you prefer a sweeter drink

    Fizz of your choice (may we refer you to our English sparkling wines)

    Mix the gin, orange liqueur, lemon juice (and sugar, if you like it) in a champagne flute and top with your favourite chilled bubbly. Raise a toast to your mum and enjoy at your leisure.

    Lyme Bay Pink Grapefruit Gin and Tonic

    Our mouth-watering Pink Grapefruit Gin bursts with the flavours of pink grapefruit, orange peel and lime alongside the more delicate botanical aromas of juniper and elderflower.

    Spectacular over ice or as a different G&T serve, this gin is a beautiful marriage of floral and citrus flavours, and with a bit of extra effort can make a luxurious gin and tonic.

    Peel and segment one pink grapefruit over a bowl to catch the juices. Pour a generous splash of juice into a glass, add 25ml Lyme Bay Pink Grapefruit Ginand top with tonic water – our choice would be a light tonic which allows the flavours of pink grapefruit to burst through. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary, breathe deeply and imagine it’s nearly summer.

    A toast to the end of Winter

    And talking of warmer weather, why not raise a glass to the end of winter with a nostalgic G&T made with our Lyme Bay Winter Gin?

    Grounded in rich, earthy tones layering black pepper and nutmeg over notes of elderberries, blackberries and a hint of burnt orange, mix with a twist of orange and a premium tonic to enhance the warm flavours as you welcome in the brighter days ahead.
